Public Meeting Agenda: February 3, 2026 at 6:00 PM - Board of Education Special Meeting

1. Call to Order

Rationale: Information concerning the Open Meeting Law, Chapter 84, Article 14 of Nebraska State Statutes, is posted in the meeting room at a location accessible to members of the public and attached to the online agenda.

School Board meetings in Nebraska are meetings held in public, not public meetings. The public comment agenda item is the only opportunity for the public to address the board.

Please silence your phones and refrain from texting or using electronics (such as computers) during the meeting; if you must use your phone, please step outside the Board Room.

Mr. Bob Schoby, Board President, will call the Board of Education Special meeting to order.

Rationale: The Board Secretary will conduct roll call attendance.

Rationale: Dr. Johnson will lead the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance.

4. Comments From The Public

Rationale: This is the portion of the meeting when members of the public may address the board about matters of public concern.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO WISH TO SPEAK:

Getting started: When you have been recognized, please stand and state your name.
Time Limit: The board has the discretion to limit the amount of time set aside for public participation and unless stated otherwise, will employ a time limit of 5 minutes or less.
Personnel or Student Topic: If you are planning to speak about a personnel or student matter involving an individual, please understand that our policies require you to follow the district’s complaint procedure before addressing the board. Board members will generally not respond to any questions or comments you make about individual staff members or students. Please remember that slanderous comments will not be tolerated.
Parents and community members wishing to contact the Board regarding a specific school, teacher or child, are encouraged to begin at the level closest to their concern.
1. Step One: Contact the teacher, coach, guidance counselor, etc.
2. Step Two: Contact the Principal. If you have a school-wide concern, this becomes step one.
3. Step Three: Contact the District office responsible for the area or concern. 402-426-2610

General Rules: This is a public meeting for the conduct of business. Comments from within the audience while others are speaking will not be tolerated. Offensive language, personal attacks, and hostile conduct will not be tolerated.
No action by the Board: The Board will not act on any matter unless it is on the published agenda.

5. Business

5.1. Blair Wrestling Club

Rationale: Mr. Siecke received a request from the Blair Wrestling Club for the use of the high school main gym and auxiliary gym. The tournament is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 8:00am - 4:00pm. Mr. Siecke supports the request as this tournament is a major benefit to the community and our teams.

6. Items for Discussion

6.1. Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB)

Rationale: Marcia Herring of the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) will present to the Board of Education on Board Leadership.
